Grateful Reflections: Honoring Mentors Who’ve Inspired DROP in 2024
As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey of launching DROP and the people who’ve unknowingly played a pivotal role in shaping this dream. This year, we’ve turned used pickleballs into purpose, are rapidly building a community of enthusiasts, and have taken the first steps toward building a sustainable, circular business.
I want to take a moment to express gratitude to the mentors who have inspired me this year. Whether through direct support, shared wisdom, or simply being living examples of what’s possible, these individuals have left a lasting impact on both me and DROP.
The Mentors Who Made a Difference:
🎾 Max Ireland – Founding Partner at 3rd Shot Pickleball
Max took a leap of faith as our very first pickleball recycling partner. His belief in this mission gave DROP its initial momentum and showed me what collaboration in the pickleball community could achieve.
🛍️ Carl Walker – Product & Operations Expert
Carl, a close friend and trusted advisor, helped brainstorm the heart of DROP’s concept. From recycling operations to product ideas, he opened my eyes to what’s possible when passion meets innovation.
🔧 Rory Dickens – Founder of Sustainable Design Studios
Rory’s incredible machines and expertise in renewable businesses gave me the tools to dream big and the guidance to think strategically about scaling DROP for the future.
🌱 Laura Thompson – Executive Director of The RePickle Project
Laura has been a sounding board for sustainable ideas, a source of best practices, and an advocate for what’s possible in the pickleball and sustainability space. Her energy and shared love for the sport have been invaluable.
♻️ Jesse Stedman – Founder & CEO of Trash Panda
Watching Jesse’s transparency in building his business, sharing struggles, and celebrating wins has been a masterclass in authentic entrepreneurship. His work has been a constant source of inspiration.
💡 Adam Hill – Leader of Direct Polymers & Brave Industries
Adam’s dedication to circular businesses and his insights on building a great team have encouraged me to focus not only on the “what” but also on the “who” in building DROP.
📸 Tyler Huntley - Photographer & Adventure Content Creator
Tyler’s action shots and creative vision brought the OG Bracelet to life, capturing its story with energy and purpose. His talent turned our vision into something tangible and inspiring. Thank you, Tyler for making our first product launch unforgettable!
🌊 Bureo - Repurposing used fishing nets
Bureo’s incredible work as a recycling business has shown me the heights we can aim for. Their products and their mission remind me daily of the potential impact we can make.
Gratitude Fuels Growth
Launching DROP has already been the ride of a lifetime, it’s made possible thanks to the generosity and inspiration of these mentors.
Who has inspired you this year? Let’s share the gratitude and recognize those who make the impossible seem achievable.
Here’s to turning lessons into action and inspiration into impact in 2025.
Thank you all for following DROP’s journey. Together, we’re creating something amazing.
